About 

Maricopa County Reads is the award-winning Summer Reading Program (SRP) offered through the Maricopa County Library District (MCLD). Every summer, the program serves over 80,000 readers of all ages across 65 public, tribal, and military base libraries—including both Avondale Civic Center and Sam Garcia branches. The program runs from June to August and is designed to promote reading, prevent summer learning loss (often called the “summer slide”), and foster community connection through fun, literacy-based experiences. Whether it’s a toddler hearing their favorite book for the tenth time, a teen completing a reading challenge, or an adult modeling positive reading habits, every minute counts.  

Important Dates

February 9, 2026: Packet must be completed and emailed to dcornejo@avondaleaz.gov. You may also drop of the packet in-person at either library location.
