Avondale Public Library Resumes Curbside Service

Avondale’s public libraries will resume curbside service beginning Tuesday, May 12. Curbside pickup of library materials is offered at Avondale Civic Center Library, located at 11350 W. Civic Center Dr. and Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library, located at 495 E. Western Avenue, until such time the libraries reopen again.

Library patrons will have the following options to request items:

1)Placing items on hold through the online catalog (https://avondale.polarislibrary.com/polaris/)

2)Emailing request at EmailLibrary@avondaleaz.gov

3)Calling the libraries during the following time frames to place requests with a staff member;

Avondale Civic Center Library 623.333.2602 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library 623.333.2601 on Thursdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Fridays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Service will be available during the following time frames:

  • Civic Center Library - 10am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm – Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Sam Garcia Library - 10am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm – Thursday; 3pm to 5pm - Friday

A library card number and PIN number will be needed to place a library material request.

To obtain or renew a library card:

Register for a card online by completing an online library card application at www.avondalelibrary.org; Renew a card online at https://www.avondalelibrary.org/services/my-account/library-card-renewal

Register or renew a library card by phone during the following time frames:

Avondale Civic Center Library 623.333.2602 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm

Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library 623.333.2601 on Thursdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Fridays from 9:00am to 5:00pm

Requests will be limited to 10 items at a time and will apply to books (including New and Bestsellers), DVDs, CDS, and audiobooks.  Beyond Books kits will not be available for checkout during this time.

At this time, requests will be limited only to those items available at the pick-up location.

 

Requests will be filled by staff in the order they are received. Patrons will be contacted by email or phone when their library material request is ready; provided the next available date and time to pick up, and confirm library location.  Those unable to pick-up during the allotted date and time can request a different date and time for pick up. 

When arriving at the designated library for pick up, please go to the front door entrance where library staff will be stationed to hand over library items. A library card and valid identification will be required at time of pick up.

As a reminder, in accordance with CDC and Public Health guidelines, the public is advised not to visit the library curbside program if they are experiencing any signs or symptoms of illness including but not limited to; shortness of breath, fever, sore throat or cough.  Please stay home and minimize exposure to others. 

Due dates have been suspended and fines will not accrue while libraries are closed.

You can return items through the outdoor book drops located at both libraries during the following time frames:

 

  • Civic Center Library - 9:00am on Tuesdays through 6:00pm on Wednesdays
  • Sam Garcia Library - 9:00am on Thursdays through 5:00pm on Fridays

 

At this time, we are not accepting any donations through our outdoor book drops.
